This department is assigned to lead the Florida Baptist Convention’s ministry of disaster relief and recovery. This ministry encompasses two emphases. The first aspect is the training of volunteer personnel and the readiness of equipment to respond to the aftermath of a natural disaster. Secondly, following a natural disaster, the department coordinates the deployment of volunteers and support equipment to assist individuals and churches by providing emergency feeding, on-site clean-up and recovery services.
The Disaster Relief Ministry’s goal is to lead Florida Baptists to serve shoulder to shoulder to bring Help, Healing and Hope in Times of Disaster.
Help ~ By ministering to physical needs through removing downed trees from homes, securing tarps over roofs and doing what is necessary to make a dwelling safe and secure.
Healing ~ By ministering to emotional needs through spending time with, listening to and caring for disaster survivors.
Hope ~ By ministering to spiritual needs through sharing the gospel by our example, words and literature, and connecting people to local churches.

Our Part: FBC of Gray Gables Mud Out Team:
Our part as FBC of Gray Gables is to be ready when a disaster hits. We have assembled a team of trained volunteers and have been assigned an official team identification. This team will assist the Florida Baptist Disaster Relief Team in helping bring Help, Healing, & Hope to those who are facing the effects of a disaster. Our team will be ready to respond to a disaster in our community, county, region, or at times anywhere in the state. There are many areas to volunteer in and our training will determine where we help.
Another opportunity we have as a church is to equip our team with the tools necessary for Disaster Relief. Some churches have trailers that house the supplies needed when called to an area where a disaster has hit. We are not able to acquire a trailer at this time. But, we can provide our team with the necessary tools and equipment. This will afford us two opportunities.
First, we will be called upon more often because we will have the supplies. Not all churches are able to obtain the supplies so they rely on other churches who have the supplies. That limits our ability to respond independently to state and national disasters.
Second, it will allow us to respond to local area needs when the need has not triggered a response from the Florida Baptist Convention's ministry of disaster relief.
Below is a list of supplies needed to equip our team for Mud Out response. We welcome any donations (or funds to purchase) from the list below to help furnish out Disaster Relief Team!

With these items we will be able to respond as an independent team
to a local, state or national disaster. (without a trailer)
Costs are from Home Depot.
Some items have a range of cost based on quality.
I tried to go with mid price range.
List is not exhaustive. Will need to have various hand tools
