Church Family,

In the last two years we have looked at a very specific command given in the Bible that we believe affects the way that we minister here to our own community.  I have preached twice now from Galatians 6:9-10, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.  As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith”.  The first sermon was entitled, “The Mark of Mercy”, and it is available for you to listen too on this page.  In that message we heard God’s command to give away the love of Christ, and to express our love for others with tangible acts of mercy and relief.

As you know we are currently ministering to the community at large on a weekly basis through the CUP Ministry.  Given the financial pressure that many families in our own community are suffering under, this is an increasingly vital ministry.  AS the pressure grows greater, if the Lord should allow it, we hope to be able to be right there faithful to help meet needs as the Lord allows.  I consider it an opportunity and a blessing to reach out to our neighbors with the love of Christ in this way.  However, we know that we can, and need to do more, and on a larger scale.  For that reason and to be obedient to the Word of God we are planning our third annual Mercy Days event for the last weekend before school starts back up.

On Friday August 21, and Saturday August 22, we are going to be holding our third annual Mercy Days event.  During those two days we are going to open up our church and give the love of Christ away to our community in four ways:

1. We will be giving away non-CUP food to any family in need, regardless of proof of food stamps or any of the federal regulations that we are bound by now in the CUP.

2. We will be giving away both new and used school aged children’s clothes to all those families in need.

3. We will be giving away backpacks filled with appropriate school supplies to all those families in need and that come with children requesting them.

4. We will be provide each family or single person a Gospel presentation and an opportunity to pray with a counselor to receive Christ or for any other need.

In order to minister to the community in this way, we are going to need your help and support.  First, I would ask you to begin praying that God would bless this ministry for His glory.  Second, I would ask you to give one or all of three things: time, donations of the above items, or money in order to purchase the above items.  If you would like to give your time, please contact the office at 879-2986 and we will gladly add your name to the list.  If you would like to give, please either designate your funds and place them in the offering, or drop off your items here at the church to be staged for the event.

For His Glory,
